A place that is extraordinary for getaways from Pune is Raigad, which is around 57 kilometers from Pune. Home to the highly acclaimed Raigad Fort, this place is of significance to Maratha culture and history. This is because the Maratha warrior and ruler, Chhatrapati Shivaji, made Raigad his capital when he was delegated in 1674. The fort offers some amazing perspectives of the encompassing slopes and furthermore fills in as an incredible area for history buffs and trekkers. The fort also offers other tourist attractions; for example, the tomb of Shivaji’s mom, Jijabai and furthermore the statue of Shivaji. This place has a trekking way through Tungareshwar and is highly recommended. Chinchoti is 186km away from Pune and takes around 4hr to reach from the city.

Then, welcome the winter chill in this lush, rustic, picturesque lakeside town just ahead of Mahabaleshwar, which is also called the ‘Mini Kashmir of the Western Ghats’. Located just about 150 km from Pune, the drive to Tapola is truly scenic. While here, indulge in some boating activities in the foggy lake. For the more adventurous lot, there are many unknown forts in the dense forest around the lake in Tapola, like Vasota and Jaygad Forts.

You don’t have to make a plan for Dandeli or Rishikesh to go river rafting. At Kolad, you have the best choice for river rafting in the state. Ensure you arrive early. About 120km from Pune, it takes around 2hrs50mins to reach the destination.
