The Seven Islands: The Portuguese founded this center in 1534. A century later, these seven islands were handed over as dowry to the English King Charles II upon his marriage to the Portuguese Princess Catherine of Braganza in 1662.
After six years, the island was leased to the East India Company. Following that, the East India Company relocated its headquarters to Bombay in 1687, marking the beginning of the creation of the seven islands.
